I was blessed to have Dr. Scott Floyd as an adviser and professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He recently has released a book entitled, Crisis Counseling: A Guide for Pastors and Professionals. Dr. Floyd presents a comprehensive look at interventions addressing critical incidents and traumatic events. He personalizes this book and approach based on the events that followed an evening at a Texas church when a gunman killed seven church attendees. He was among a few men selected by God to provide help in the grieving and treatment stages that this church went through in the following months. I have attended a seminar where he and Dr. Ian Jones spoke on this material. I respect Dr. Floyd as a professor and now as an author. He lives what he writes about and what he teaches on in the SWBTS counseling program. I am proud to have been his student and to be his friend.

I bought this book for a class but in all honesty it is a really easy read, informative without all the big technical terms to confuse you. It is very clear and to the point and I enjoyed reading it, wasn't a struggle.
