23 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it: 29 And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire c on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofsd they have offered incense unto o Joel 3.20. 36¶¶ And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It m shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence; 37 Behold, I will gather them out of all countries whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell o safely:
42 For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so u will I bring upon them all the good that I have 10 from after. promised them.
43 And v fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, it is desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
38 And p they shall be my people, and I will be their God:
39 And I will give them one q heart, and one way, that they may fear me 9 for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:
40 And I will make r an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away 10 from them to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
41 Yea, I will rejoice s over them to do them good, and I will plant t them in this land 11 assuredly with my whole heart, and with my whole soul.

24 Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The twoc families which the LORD hath

9 That g every man should let his man-servant, and every man his maid-servant, being an Hebrew or an Hebrewess, go free; that none should serve himself of them, to wit, of a Jew his h brother.
10 Now when all the princes, and all the people, which had entered into the covenant, heard that every one should let his man-servant, and every one his maid-servant go free, that none should serve themselves of them any more, then they obeyed, and let them go.
11 But afterward they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids.

3 And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the Ex.21.2. eyes of the king of Babylon, and 2 he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
Yet hear the word of the LORD. O Zedekiah king of Judah: Thus saith the LORD of thee, Thou shalt not die by the sword:
5 But thou shalt die in peace: and with the burnings c of thy fathers, the former kings which were before thee, so shall they burn odours for thee; and they will lamentdthee, saying, Ah, lord! for I have pronounced the word, saith the LORD.

5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.
6 But they said, We will drink no wine for Jonadab the son of Re-m ch.18.11. chab, our father, commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine,] neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the ariny of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalemi.
14 The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father's commandment: notwithstanding i I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened
not unto me.
15 I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, i rising up early and sending them, saying, Return m ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye u have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
16 Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened unto ine:
17 Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil that I have pronounced against them: o because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
18 T And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because p ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
19 Therefore, thus saith the LORD B. C. 590. of hosts, the God of Israel; 2 Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand q before me for ever. CHAPTER XXXVI.

Jeremiah causeth Baruch to write his prophecy.
AND it came to pass in the fourth
year of the son of Josiah king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
2 Take thee a roll a of a book, and write b therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, c from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day. 3 It may be d that the house of Judal will hear all the evil which e ch.25. 15,&c. I purpose to do unto them; that d ver.7. they may returne every man from ch.26.3. his evil way; that I may forgive fe ch.18.8. their iniquity and their sin. Jon.3.8-10.
4 Then Jeremiah called Baruch g the son of Neriah: and Baruch ƒ Ac.3.19. wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah 5 ch.22.12. all the words of the LORD, which 45.1,2. he had spoken unto him, upon a h ver.21,23, rollh of a book.
5 And Jeremiah commanded Ba-i ver.8. ruch, saying, I am shut up; I cannot) Eze.2.3-7. go into the house of the LORD: k Le. 16.29

13 Then Michaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
14 Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying, Take in thine hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come. So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
19 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hides thee, thou and Jeremiah; and let no man know where ye he.
20 T And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll in the chamber of Elisliama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears of the king.
21 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of Elishama the scribe's chamber. And Jehudi read itt in the ears of
the king, and in the ears of all the princes whic stood beside the king.
22 Now the king sat in the winterhouse, u in the ninth month and there was a fire on the hearth burning before him.
23 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.
