Micah, vi. 6, 7, 8.
Wherewith shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself
before the high God ? Shall I come before him with burnt
offerings, with calves of a year old ? Will the Lord be
pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of
rivers of oil? Shall I give my first-born for my transgres-
sion, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul ? He
hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth
the Lord require of thee, but to do justly and to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with thy God?
HEBREWS, vii. 1, 2, 3.
For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high
God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of
the kings, and blessed him; to whom also Abraham gave
a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of
righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is,
King of Peace; without father, without mother, without
descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life,
but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest con-
tinually.
