Intemperance, however, was strongly denounced at this period by Ministers of the Gospel, and by others, who viewed this degrading vice with detestation and alarm. There are several characteristic pamphlets, the production of their pious zeal, still extant, wherein the folly of in reference to those drunkenness is forcibly pourtrayed, and the dreadful extent of its ravages exhibited.
