1 My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine:

Now hear me while I pray;
Take all my guilt away;
Oh let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;

As Thou hast died for me,

Oh may my love to Thee,

Pure, warm, and changeless be-
A living fire.

3 While life's dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow's tears away,
Nor let me ever stray

From Thee aside.

4 When ends life's transient dream, When death's cold sullen stream

Shall o'er me roll,

Blest Saviour, then in love, Fear and distrust remove;

Oh bear me safe above,

A ransomed soul!

70.

MY GOD AND FATHER, WHILE I STRAY.

1 My God and Father, while I stray Far from my home on life's rough way,

Oh teach me from my heart to say, "Thy will be done, Thy will be done."

1 My God and Father, while I stray
Far from my home on life's rough way,
Oh teach me from my heart to say,
"Thy will be done."

2 Though dark my path and sad my lot,
Let me be still and murmur not;
But breathe the prayer divinely

"Thy will be done." [taught—

3 If Thou shouldst call me to resign
What most I prize-it ne'er was mine;
I only yield Thee what is Thine;
"Thy will be done."

4 What though in lonely grief I sigh
For friends beloved no longer nigh?
Submissive would I still reply,
"Thy will be done."

5 Should pining sickness waste away
My life in premature decay:
My Father, still I'd strive to say,
"Thy will be done."

6 If but my fainting heart be blest
With Thy free Spirit for its Guest,
My God, to Thee I leave the rest-
"Thy will be done."

7 Renew my will from day to day;
Blend it with Thine, and take away
All that now makes it hard to say,
"Thy will be done."

8 Then, when on earth I breathe no more
The prayer, oft mixt with tears before,
I'll sing upon a happier shore,

"Thy will be done."

71.

NEARER. MY GOD, TO THEE.

1 Near-er, my God, to Thee,-Near-er to Thee! E'en though it be a cross That rais-eth me,

Still, all my song shall be, Near-er my God, to Thee,-Near-er to Thee!

10 PARADISE! O Paradise!

Who doth not crave for rest;

Who would not seek the happy land
Where they that loved are blest;
Where loyal hearts and true
Stand ever in the light,

All rapture through and through
In God's most holy sight?

2 O Paradise! O Paradise!

The world is growing old;

Who would not be at rest, and free,

Where love is never cold?

3 O Paradise! O Paradise!

Wherefore doth death delayBright death that is the welcome dawn Of our eternal day?

4 O Paradise! O Paradise!
'Tis weary waiting here;
I long to be where Jesus is,
To feel, to see Him near.

5 O Paradise! O Paradise!
I want to sin no more;
I want to be as pure on earth
As on thy spotless shore.

6 O Paradise! O Paradise!
I greatly long to see

The special place my dearest Lord
In love prepares for me.

7 Lord Jesus, King of Paradise,
Oh keep me in Thy love,
And guide me to that happy land
Of perfect rest above.
