Two distinct articles are herewith presented to the reader, relating to the proceedings of the Jewish chief priests and elders, which led to the crucifixion of Jesus. The first is a chapter from a work of Mr. J. Salvador, a physician and a learned Jew of Paris, on "The Institutions of Moses and the Hebrew People." In a previous chapter on "The Administration of Justice," he states their course of criminal procedure. This is followed by a chapter, (book iv., ch. 3,) entitled, "The Trial and Condemnation of Jesus," which is an attempt to defend the conduct and proceedings of the chief priests and elders.
