Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.-Prov. xxii. 6.

Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.-15.

Withhold not correction from the child for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.Prov. xxiii. 13.

Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.-14.

My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice,-15.

Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.-25.

The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.-Prov. xxix. 15.

And it came to pass, when he (David) had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan

was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.-1 Sam. xviii. 1.

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.-3.

And Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.-4.
