...He that gathereth by labour shall increase.-11. The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns...Prov. xv. 19.

Slothfulness casteth into a deep sleep; and an idle soul shall suffer hunger.-Prov. xix. 15.

A slothful man hideth his hand in his bosom, and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.-24. The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.- Prov. xx. 4.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thine eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.—13.

The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.--Prov. xxi. 5.

The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.-25.

The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.-Prov. xxii. 13.

Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.-29.

Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.-Prov. xxiv. 27.

I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding ;―30.

And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.-31.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.—Prov. xxiv. 32.

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep :-33.

She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household...15.

She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.-16.

She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.-Prov. xxxi. 17.

She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.-18.

She maketh herself coverings of tapestry...22. She maketh fine linen, and selleth it...24. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.-27.

Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.-31.

The sleep of a labouring man is sweet...Eccl. v. 12. ...It is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him for it is his portion.-18.

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might... Eccl. ix. 10.

By much slothfulness the building decayeth; and through idleness of the hands the house droppeth through.-Eccl. x. 18.

A CONTENTED MIND.

And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself.-Gen. xxxiii. 9.

And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand...10.

Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough...11.

...Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host ? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.2 Kings iv. 13.

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour...but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself,...2 Ch. i. 11.

Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee...12. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup thou maintainest my lot.-Ps. xvi. 5. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.-6.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.Ps. xxiii. 1.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way...Ps. xxxvii. 7.

A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.-16.

A good man shall be satisfied from himself.Prov. xiv. 14.

A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.-30.

He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.-Prov. xv. 15.

Better is little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and trouble therewith.-16.

Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.-17.

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife.Prov. xvii. 1.

A merry heart doeth good like a medicine...22. Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool.— Prov. xix. 1.

Let not thine heart envy sinners: but be thou in the fear of the Lord all the day long.-Prov. xxiii. 17. Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked.-Prov. xxiv. 19.
