He that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.-Pror. xii. 11.

The way of the wicked seduceth them.-26.

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.-Prov. xiii. 20. Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.— Prov. xiv. 7.

A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.—Prov. xvi. 29.

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.Prov. xxii. 5.

WORK AND INDUSTRY ENJOINED. IDLENESS AND SLOTH A SHAME.

And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.— Gen. ii. 15.

In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground... Gen. iii. 19.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work.Ex. xx. 9.

And he (God) said unto me, Solomon thy son, he shall build my house and my courts...1 Ch. xxviii. 6.

And David said to Solomon, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the Lord God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.--20.

Whatsoever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be diligently done for the house of the God of heaven...Ezra vii. 23.

Establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.-Ps. xc. 17.

Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.—Ps. civ. 23.

Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids. Prov. vi. 4.

Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise :-6.

Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,-7.

How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?—9.

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:-10.

So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.—11.

He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.-Prov. x. 4. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.-5.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.-26.

He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread... Prov. xii. 11.

The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.-24.

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.-27.

The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.— Prov. xiii. 4.
