The words of the pure are pleasant words.-26. Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.-Prov. xvi. 13.

Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.—24.

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.-28.

Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an houseful of sacrifices with strife.-Prov. xvii. 1.

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.-9.

The beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.-14.

He that hath a perverse tongue falleth into mischief.-20.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.-19.

It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.-Prov. xxi. 19. Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.-23.

Their (the evil men's) heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.—Prov. xxiv. 2.

Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.—Prov. xxv. 8.

Discover not a secret to another:-9.

Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away.-10.

By long forbearing is a prince persuaded, and a soft tongue breaketh the bone.-15.

The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.-23.

He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears. Prov. xxvi. 17.

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.—20.

As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.-21.

He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife.— Prov. xxviii. 25.

...But wise men turn away wrath.-Prov. xxix. 8.

Seest thou a man that is hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.-20. An angry man stirreth up strife..... .22.

Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter anything before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.-Eccl. v. 2.

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin.-6.

UNGODLY.

Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil;Ex. xxiii. 2.

Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods.-32.

They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee.-33.

After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.-Ler. xviii. 3.

And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram ;...Num. xvi. 25.

And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of their's, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.-26.

It came to pass when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.-1 Kings xi. 4.

And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel.—9. ...Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.-2 Ch. xix. 2.

Should we again break thy commandments, and join in affinity with the people of these abominations? wouldest not thou be angry with us till thou hadst consumed us ?-Ezra ix. 14.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.-Ps. i. 1.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity...Ps. vi. 8. Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.-Ps. xvii. 4.
