And David's heart smote him after that he had numbered the people. And David said unto the Lord, I have sinned greatly in that I have done: and now, I beseech thee, O Lord, take away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.-2 Sam. xxiv. 10.

If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.-Job ix. 20.

Though I were perfect, yet would I not know my soul.-21.

If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him ;-Job xi. 13.

If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away...14. For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear.-15. REPENTANCE.

GOD IS WILLING TO PARDON.

The Lord is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression...Num. xiv. 18.

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind,... Deut. xxx. 1.

And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul ;--2.

That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.-3.

...If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, ...then put away the strange gods...from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only...1 Sam. vii. 3.

And they cried unto the Lord, and said, Wė have sinned, because we have forsaken the Lord... 1 Sam. xii. 10.
