DEAR MR. PARKER: Careful consideration has been given to the bill, H. R. 9931, transmitted with your letter of February 17, with request for a report thereon and such views relative thereto as the department might desire to communicate.

This bill would authorize the commissioners of Berks County, Pa., to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Schuylkill River, in the city of Reading. The department recommends favorable action on the bill.

Mr. CORNING, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany H. R. 9988]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 9988) granting the consent of Congress to the State of New York to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Allegheny River at or near Red House, N. Y., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agricultural Departments, as will appear by the letters attached and which are made a part of this report.

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill (H. R. 9988, 71st Cong., 2d sess.) granting the consent of Congress to the State of New York to construct a free highway bridge across the Allegheny River at or near Red House, N. Y.

DEAR MR. PARKER: Careful consideration has been given to the bill (H. R. 9988) transmitted with your letter of February 18 with request for a report thereon and such views relative thereto as the department might desire to communicate.

This bill would authorize the State of New York to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge and approaches thereto across the Allegheny River at or near Red House, Cattaraugus County, N. Y. The location indicated for the proposed bridge is on the system of Federal-aid highways approved for New York. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

R. 9989) granting the consent of Congress to the State of Minnesota, Le Sueur County and Sibley County, in the State of Minnesota, to construct, maintain, and operate a bridge across the Minnesota River at or near Henderson, Minn., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached and which are made a part of this report.

This bill would authorize the State of Minnesota, Le Sueur, and Sibley Counties, in said State, to construct, maintain, and operate a free bridge and approaches thereto across the Minnesota River at or near Henderson, Minn. The location indicated for the proposed bridge is not on the system of Federal-aid highways approved for Minnesota. However, the bill is without objection so far as this department is concerned.
