OREIGN Born" is a Service bulletin,
planned primarily to meet the needs
of the Division on Work for Foreign Born
Women of the Young Women's Christian
Associations. As such, it represents the
consolidation of four bulletins hitherto
issued separately in mimeographed form
by the Section on Research and Informa-
tion; namely, the digest of clippings from
the native American press on immigra-
tion, Americanzation and kindred sub-
jects, the bulletin of information gathered
from a selected number of foreign-lan-
guage newspapers, the staff bulletin giv-
ing résumés and abstracts of current in-
coming material from other organizations
and the library supplement listing perti-
nent articles in leading magazines.
The frequency with which requests for
information concerning the manifold in-
terests and obligations of the foreign-born
in the United States reach this section,
not only from our own staff but from
other organizations and individuals simi-
larly interested, leads us to believe that
an amplification of the bulletins along
lines indicated by the requests would be
of general service. The character of this
material will vary from month to month
as the situation demands.
By the introduction of "Field Notes"
and a, "Question Box" we hope to open
a channel of inter-communication be-
tween public and staff, the value of which
will be determined by the use made of it.
Controversial discussions will have no
place there. A cordial invitation to par-
ticipate is extended to all.
