3 Beloved, in giving diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, I found it necessary to write unto you forthwith, exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith once for all delivered unto the saints.

4 For there crept in of old certain men, men before written down in prophecy for this judgment, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only "Master, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

5 I wish therefore to put you in remembrance, knowing as ye do all [these] things once

saved the people out of the land of Egypt, secondly destroyed them that believed not. 6 And the angels which kept not their dignity, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

7 And how that Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them, giving themselves over to fornication, and going away after strange flesh, are in like manner to these set forth for an example, suffering the just punishment of eternal fire. 8 In like manner nevertheless these dreamers also defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of "dignities.

HE Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants what things must shortly come to pass; and he signified it sending by his angel unto his servant John : 2 Who testified the word of God, and the testimony of Jesus Christ, 1as much as he saw.

12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of Man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the breasts with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white as white wool, like snow; and his eyes as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they had been burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many

20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks are seven churches.

CHAPTER II.

UN

NTO the angel of the church in Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, he that walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;

2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and that thou canst not bear wicked persons and thou didst try them which say they are apostles, and are not, and didst find them false :

37And hadst patience, and didst bear for my name's sake, and hast not been weary.

4 Nevertheless I have against thee that thou hast left thy first love.

5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works or else I will come unto thee,8 and will remove thy candle

stick out of his place, if thou | hath the sharp sword with two do not repent. edges;

6 Notwithstanding, this thou hast, that thou hatest the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.

7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in' the paradise of God. 8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and revived;

9 I know thy2 tribulation, and thy poverty; nevertheless thou art rich; and the slandering of thee by them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.

IO Fear not those things which thou art about to suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

II He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. He that overcometh shall not be hurt by the second death.
