ix. 1-41.

Then preached Jefus, that he is the door of the Sheep, and that good Shepherd; as alfo concerning thieves and hirelings; and there was again a divifion amongst the Jews for those fayings, John x. 1-21.

At this time the feventy returned to him with joy, whom Jefus further warned and inftructed; and re joicing in fpirit, he told them privately that their eyes were happy, Luke x. 17-24.

Then came to him a certain lawyer, afking him, What he must do to inherit eternal life? Jefus fent him to the law: and by the parable of the man that fell a= mongst thieves, taught him who was his neighbour, Luke x. 25-37.

Afterward it came to pass, that as he went, he came to a certain town, and was received into the houfe of Martha, fhe herself miniftring to him, whilft Mary heard the words of Jefus, for which she was preferred before Martha, Luke x. 38-42.

And it came to país as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceafed, one of his difciples faid unto him, "Lord teach us to pray, as John taught his dif"ciples:" whereupon he the fecond time, prescribed to them the Lord's prayer: ufing arguments also to ftir them up to conftancy in prayer, and for the confirmation of their faith in obtaining their fuits, Luke xi. 1—13.

Then caft Jefus a devil out that was dumb, and the multitude marvelled, and he confirmed against fome blafphemers, that he did not caft out devils thro' Beelzebub, Luke xi. 14-26.

And it came to pafs as he fpake these things, that a certain woman of the company faid unto him,

Bleed is the womb that bare thee, &c. to whom he replied, Luke xi. 27, 28.

And when the multitude were gathered thick tqgether, he began to fay, "This generation feeks a fign, but there fhall be none given but that of Jo66 nas:" adding that the queen of the fouth, and the Ninevites fhould condemn that generation; charging them to take heed that the light which was in them, were not darkness, Luke xi. 29-36.

When Jefus had spoken these things, a certain Pharifee defired him that he would dine with him and wondered that Jefus had not firft washed, he was severely reprehended, with the rest of the Pharifees, by Jefus for their outward holiness, or fimulation, and for their inward wickednefs, covetoufnefs, and pride; and he pronounced a woe likewife to the lawyers, Luke xi. 37, 54:

In the mean time when there were gathered together an innumerable company, Jefus faid to his difciples, "Take heed of the leaven of the Pharifees, "which is hypocrify: and fear not them which kill "the body," Luke xii. 1-12.

And one of the company faid to him, "Mafter, fpeak to my brother that he divide the inheritance "" with me." To whom Jefus faid, Who made me a judge? And upon this occafion he preached against covetoufnefs, in a parable of the rich man that would build great barns; as alfo againft all anxious diftruftful, and unprofitable, caring about the neceffaries of this life; commanding them rather to feek the kingdom of God, and to be like them that wait for the coming of their Lord, as becomes every faithful and wife fteward; telling them that he would fend the fire of divifion into the earth, and upbraided them that they could not find out that that was the appointed time, Luke xii. 13-59.

of the Galileans, whofe blood Pilate had mingled with their facrifices; from which occafion he preached repentance, and propounded to them the parable of the fig-tree that had no fruit, Luke xiii. I-9.

As he taught in one of the fynagogues on the Sabbath day, behold there was a woman that had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed toge ther, whom Jefus healed, and defended his deed a gainst the ruler of the fynagogue that was full of indignation. Then did he liken the kingdom of heaven to a grain of mustard feed, and to leaven, Luke xiii. 10, 21.

Then he went through all the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying towards Jerufalem, to wit, to the feast of dedication, Luke xiii. 22.

As he went, one faid to him, Are there few that fball be faved? To whom he anfwered, commanding to strive to enter in at the ftrait gate, Luke xiii. 23-30.

On the fame day fome of the Pharifees came to him, faying, Get thee out, and depart hence, for Herod will kill thee: to whom he gave a refolute answer, Luke xiii. 31--3'5

And it came to pafs, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharifees, to eat bread, there was one present that had a dropfy, whom he healed, and defended the deed, though it was done on the Sabbathday. He alfo fpake a parable to them that were bidden, and inftructed him that had invited him, Luke xiv. 1, 14.

And when one of them that fat at meat with him, beard these things, he faid unto him; Blessed is he that fhall eat bread in the kingdom of God. To whom Jefus answered and propounded to them the parable of the great fupper, and of the feveral excufes that those that were invited made, Luke xiv. 15-24. And there was a great multitude that went with

him, and he turned and preached unto them, that life itself is to be laid down for Chrift. He also propounded to them the parables of a man that was about to build a tower; and of the king's going to war, Luke XV. 25-35.

And there came to him all the publicans and finners for to hear him, and the Scribes and Pharifees murmured; whereupon he spake unto them the pa rables of the loft fheep, of the groat, and of the prodigal fon, Luke xv. 1-32.

He alfo told to his difciples the parable of the unjuft fteward accufed to his lord: together with the application of the fame and the Pharifees that were covetous, when they heard these things, derided him. Then preached he against them, and taught many o ther things, and declared the parable of the rich man faring delicioufly, and of Lazarus the beggar, Luke xvi. I-31.

Moreover, he faid to his difciples, Wo to them by whom offences come; and taught, that a brother finning against a man is to be forgiven, Luke xvii.

1-14.

Hereupon his difciples faid to him, Lord increafe our faith. To whom he anfwered concerning the power of faith; and by the parable of the fervant coming from the plough, and ftraightway miniftering, he fhewed that they are unprofitable fervants when they have done all, having done no more than what was their duty, Luke xvii. 5-10.

And it came to pafs as he went to Jerufalem, that he paffed through the midst of Samaria, and Galilee, and as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten lepers, who, as they were going according to his command to the priests, they were cleanfed; of whom one of them came back to Jefus to give him thanks, and he was a Samaritan, Luke xvii. 11-19. God would come? He answered, That the kingdom of God would not come with obfervation: but that it is within; and further said to his disciples, that according to the days of Noah and Lot, fo fhall be the day in which the Son of man shall be revealed; but that he was first to fuffer many things, Luke xvii. 20-37.

Then spake he to them a parable that they should always pray, by the example of the widow interceding to the unjuft judge; whereas Ged is a righteous revenger, Luke xviii. 1—8.

He fpake alfo to fome that perfuaded themselves that they were juft, and defpifed others, the parable of the Pharifee and Publican praying in the temple, Luke xviii. 9-14.

And it was at Jerufalem the feaft of the dedication, and it was winter, and Jefus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch: Then came the Jews round about him, and faid unto him, How long doft thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Chrift, tell us plainly? which he avouched by his works, faying, I and the Father are one; whereupon they again took up ftones to ftone him. And he defending himself to be God by the fcriptures, and his works, they fought again to take him, but he efcaped out of their hands, John x. 22-39.

Then he went again beyond Jordan where John at firft did baptize, and there he abode, and many reforted to him; and as he was wont, he taught them, and healed them, and many believed on him there, Luke xviii. 40—42. Mark x. 1. Matt. xix. 1, 2.

Then came to him the Pharifees tempting him, faying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every caufe? Jefus denied it, and gave an answer to the Pharifees, objecting the bill of divorce which Mofes commanded. He answered his difciples alfo
