Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia New government not recognized by U.S. REIMBURSEMENTS FROM OTHER AGENCIES Senator ELLENDER. According to the House, you were allowed 13,398 positions and $220,100,000 in salaries and expenses. Can you tell the committee how much money you obtain by way of reimbursements for doing work for other agencies here and abroad? How much more money do you spend than is indicated here and how many more people do you use? Mr. MACOMBER. In 1969, it was about $81 million that we received from other agencies in remibursement for the administrative support services rendered to them. It will be about the same level for this year. I would have to supply for the record Senator ELLENDER. So that the actual expenditure for the State Department, instead of being $220 million, you add $81 million to that? Mr. MACOMBER. That is right. That would be what we get from the Congress directly and the other $81 million is what we get indirectly from the Congress through appropriations made to other agencies. PERSONNEL AND CATEGORIES Senator ELLENDER. Would you kindly furnish for the record the different categories in which you collect this money and the number of people that you hire over and above the number that you accounted for in your presentation? Mr. MACOMBER. We would be pleased to, Senator. (The information follows:) |
