AUTHOR OF A POEM ENTITLED “SUSAN'S VISIT,” “LUZETTE," &c. &c.
Entered, according to Act of Congress, in the year 1848,
By WEEDEN & PEEK, In the Clerk's Office of the District Court of the District of Rhode Island.
In writing the following pages, the Author has not attempted to describe scenes that exist only in fancy, but has endeavored to give an unvarnished statement of facts. Most of the persons mentioned in the work, are regularly descended from one of our Pilgrim Fathers. The writer was long acquainted with several aged descendants of this Puritan, and from their lips received most of the account given; - the remainder occurred under her own observation. It is proper, however, to remark, that the surnames vary somewhat from the original.
