OUTPOURING OF THE SPIRIT.

SPIRIT of the living God!

In all the fulness of thy grace,
Where'er the foot of man hath trod,
Descend upon our fallen race.

Give tongues of fire, and hearts of love,
To preach the reconciling word:
Give power and unction from above,

Whene'er the joyful sound is heard.

Fill ev'ry darken'd mind with light,
Inspire our souls with holy fear;
Our weakness aid with heav'nly light,
With heav'nly peace our bosoms cheer.

Baptize the nations; far and nigh
The triumph of the cross record;
The name of Jesus glorify,

Till ev'ry tongue shall call him Lord.

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him."

Thousand thousand saints attending,

Swell the triumph of his train :

Hallelujah!

Jesus comes, and comes to reign.

Every eye shall now behold him,

Rob'd in awful majesty !

Those who set at nought and sold him,
Pierc'd and nail'd him to the tree,

Deeply wailing,

Shall the true Messiah see!
