We ask these and all other mercies, for Jesus Christ's sake, our only Lord and Saviour. Amen.

PRAYER FOR THE JEWS, FOR THE SOCIETY FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIANITY. AMONGST THEM, AND FOR THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL.

ALMIGHTY God, who didst give Thy blessed

Son Jesus Christ to seek and to save that which was lost, and didst especially send Him to the lost sheep of the House of Israel, Have mercy, we beseech Thee, upon thine Ancient People, and bring them back to the fold of the Great Shepherd and Bishop of souls. Give them the spirit of grace and supplication, that they may look on Him whom they pierced, and mourn.

Grant thy blessing, O Thou Shepherd of Israel, to the labours of Thy servants united in a Christian Society for promoting the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ amongst the descendants of Israel. Have mercy upon all its members, and more especially upon those who are called to take an active part in the administration of its affairs. May the work of the Lord prosper in their hands. Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel

and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; and grant that through their means many of the children of Israel may be turned to the Lord.

Bless the missions of the Society at Jerusalem, and in all other parts of the world, wheresoever the remnant of Israel may be found. Grant that the Missionaries may so preach thy Gospel to our nation, that it may be the power of God unto salvation to many. Bless the Schools established in various countries for the education of Hebrew children; and grant that according to thy promise many of thy people may remember Thee in far countries, that they may live with their children and turn again; yea, that many of the children may see it and be glad, and that their hearts may rejoice in the Lord. Grant that the distribution of the Holy Scriptures may lead many of our people to search the Scriptures diligently, and thereby to believe in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Have mercy, O Lord, upon all Israelites who have already professed the faith of Christ crucified; enable them to adorn the doctrine of God their Saviour, and, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; and grant that they may have their conversation honest among the Gentiles, that whereas many speak against them

as evil doers, they may, by their good works which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Bless all Christian societies for preaching the Gospel to the Heathen, and give success to all the endeavours of thy Church to promote the spread of divine truth in the world. Remember

the covenant, O Lord, for all the earth is full of darkness and cruel habitations. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! Bring back, O Lord, the captivity of thy people, that Jacob may rejoice and Israel may be glad; and that the receiving of them again may be life from the dead to the Gentile world. Grant that Thy way may be known upon earth, Thy saving health among all nations. Remember Thy faithfulness and truth towards the House of Israel, that all the ends of the earth may see the salvation of God; and hasten the day when the kingdoms of this world shall become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ.

We ask these and all other mercies in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Mediator and Redeemer. Amen.

A PRAYER BEFORE PUBLIC WORSHIP.

LORD, I am now in Thy house. Assist, I pray Thee, and accept my services. Enable me to approach Thy throne of grace with humility and reverence, and grant that I may worship Thee in spirit and truth. Let Thy

Holy Spirit help mine infirmities, and dispose my heart to seriousness, attention, and devotion. Give me the Spirit of Grace and Supplication. Lord, teach me how to pray; fill my heart with Thy praise; and impart to me an earnest desire to know more of Christ and His salvation; that so I may improve this opportunity to the honour of Thy holy name, and the benefit of my soul, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A PRAYER AFTER PUBLIC WORSHIP.

ALMIGHTY GOD, who art the fountain of all wisdom, grant me grace so to remember what I have now been hearing, that it may be the means of causing me to grow in holiness and in the knowledge of God, and to be more determined to serve Thee with all my heart. May I learn to love my Saviour, and follow His steps in the way that leadeth to

eternal life. O Lord, pardon my inattention and the wandering of my mind, whilst I have been in Thy house; and accept the imperfect prayers and praises which I have offered up with the congregation of Thy people; for the sake of Jesus Christ our only Lord and Saviour. Amen.

GRACE BEFORE MEAT.

LORD, who didst sustain our fathers with manna in the wilderness, be pleased to bless the food which thy goodness has provided for us, to the nourishment of our bodies; and strengthen our souls with the true manna, the bread of life which came down from heaven, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GRACE AFTER MEAT.

LORD, who hast taught us that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, make us thankful we beseech thee for the food of which we have now been partaking, and in thy good providence feed us at all times with food convenient for us; so that being preserved in health and strength by thy mercy, we may devote all our powers to thy service, and grow in grace, until we come to thine everlasting kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
