to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

"And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. And Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord amongst the trees of the garden. And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him; 'Where art thou?' And he said, 'I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid.' And God said, 'Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?' And the man said, 'The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.' And God said unto the woman, 'What is this that thou hast done?' And the woman said, "The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.'

"And the Lord God said unto the serpent, 'Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle; and I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.'-Unto the woman he said, 'I will greatly multiply thy sorrow.' And unto Adam he said, 'Cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it, all the days of thy life. Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken. Dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.'

"And the Lord God sent him forth from the

garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way

of the tree of life."

The whole world guilty before God.

"As by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

3God spake all these words, saying, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy might; and thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him; ye shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee; and thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the Lord, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.'

8" And the Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, 'I will destroy man, for it repenteth me that I have made him.'

"All we like sheep have gone astray; we

have turned every one to his own way.-"There is no man that sinneth not,-12 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good; they are all gone aside,-they are all together become filthy, there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 14For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. 15 And there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not, 16 for the whole world lieth in wickedness."

"Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 2All that do unrighteously are an abomination unto the Lord; and God is angry with the wicked every day. He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness. 5The wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 6 They shall be silent in darkness: the adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces: out of heaven shall he thunder upon them.

and all flesh died that moved upon the earth: Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. And God turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, 10 raining upon them brimstone and fire out of heaven; and overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities; "making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly.

12 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. He shall not live, he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. In his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.—13 He that sinneth wrongeth his own soul: 14 for all the wicked will God destroy.

15 Evil pursueth sinners: 16 for they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. 17 The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. 18 They are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked. 19 Destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity: 20 the Lord shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. 21 The ungodly are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 22 The work of a man shall God render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways." God's justice satisfied by Christ's death.

:

1 "The Lord is a God of judgment: Behold, the name of the Lord cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire; and his breath as an overflowing stream. The Lord shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. He also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words; but will arise against the house of the evil doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.

3"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. But, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people: for unto you is born a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 5 God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, who hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us, 7 that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.
