the children and young people therein, the great principles of religious truth, which every true believer, whatever be his peculiar sect or denomination, may find written, as with a sunbeam, in the Word of God-that so, with God's blessing, their young minds may be guarded against the delusions of the Wicked One, however speciously insinuated by himself or his agents, and enabled to discriminate between the Christianity of the world, which will save no one, and that genuine Christianity, which we have received from Jesus Christ and his Apostles, and which, if universally and scripturally believed, embraced, and carried out in its essential principles, spirit, and obligations, would save every man.

Your Grace will permit me to add, that I have not written this Letter without earnest prayer to God for his counsel and direction, and that I would not commit it to the press, were I not firmly persuaded that it substantially accords with his sacred Word, and is calculated to advance the cause of pure Religion in our country, and with that every other valuable interest of the realm.

I have the honour to subscribe myself,
Your Grace's most obedient

and very humble Servant,

A SEPTUAGENARIAN.

April 30th, 1844.
