Bridget's Church-the Chapel-of-Ease to our Parish Church of Wavertree-on the Sunday Evenings of the Advent Season of 1893. The Lectures are now published, partly in fulfilment of a promise made by me not only to many of you who heard them delivered at S. Bridget's, but to many also in the wider neighbourhood of the city who read them when printed afterwards in the pages of The Liverpool Pulpit. They are published, also, partly that through them I at least may be reminded, in hours possibly of despondency or of failure, of the buoyant hopes, the uplifting emotions, the active sympathy which must ever be associated in my mind with memories of |
