RESOLUTION No. 44.

Presented by Department Chaplain of Oregon.

I would earnestly request the Ninth Annual Convention to change the Department Chaplain's blank, Form I, to correspond with Corps Chaplain's blank, Form J, in giving space for comments on Memorial Day exercises, the line on Department Chaplain's blanks being wholly inadequate for that purpose.

RESOLUTION No. 45.

Presented by Department of Rhode Island.

Tower Relief Corps No. 1, Department of Rhode Island W. R. C., instructs its delegates to present the following resolutions to the Fourth Annual Department Convention W. R. C., at Providence, Feb. 6, 1891, and pray that they may be given careful thought and consideration : —

WHEREAS, The Fifteenth National Encampment Grand Army of the Republic, held at Indianapolis, Ind., July 15, 1881, did adopt the following resolutions :

"Resolved, That we approve the project entertained of organizing a Woman's National Relief Corps.'

RESOLUTION No. 46.

"Resolved, That such Woman's Relief Corps' may use under such title the words 'Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic,' by special indorsement of the National Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic."

After a formal report by the Committee of the G. A. R. that such organization had been formed, the following resolution was adopted by the Eighteenth National Encampment G. A. R., held at Denver, Col., July 26, 1883:

RESOLUTION No. 47.

"Resolved, That we cordially hail the organization of a National Woman's Relief Corps, and extend our greetings to them. We return our warmest thanks to the loyal women of the land for their earnest work, support and encouragement, and bid them 'Godspeed' in their patriotic work; and

RESOLUTION No. 48.

WHEREAS, The Eighth Annual National Convention W. R. C., held at Boston, August 14, 1890, did pass the following:

"Resolved, That we earnestly invite all organizations who desire to work for the Union Veteran and his destitute dependents to come under the banner of the Woman's Relief Corps, Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic.

RESOLUTION No. 49.

"Resolved, That it is contrary to the best interest of our Order for members of the Woman's Relief Corps to connect themselves with other organizations opposed to the admission of loyal women.

RESOLUTION No. 50.

Resolved, That hereafter, the members of all such societies shall not be eligible to membership in the Woman's Relief Corps."

RESOLUTION No. 51.

In consideration of the foregoing, be it, therefore,

Resolved, That it is the sense of this Convention that members of the Woman's Relief Corps belonging to organizations opposed to the admission of loyal women shall not hold office in the Department of Rhode Island, Woman's Relief Corps.

RESOLUTION No. 52.

Resolved, That this preamble and resolution be considered at once in open Convention, without being referred to the Committee on Resolutions.
