PREFACE. A FRIENDLY wish was lately expressed to the Author, that he would publish, as a parting memorial, some of the Sermons which, in his Prebendal turn, he has preached in the Cathedral Church of Salisbury. In compliance with the kind request, and threescore years and seventeen admitting of no delay, he has transcribed for the press, with no very steady hand and many a misgiving, the Sermons which have been asked of him.
