Introduction This edition of the Laws and Regulations pertaining to immigration and nationality includes changes to March 1, 1944. The material is presented in three parts. The first part consists of the laws, Presidential Proclamations, Executive Orders, and Treaties relating to immigration. The basic Acts of 1917 and 1924 are presented first, followed by other existing immigrations laws in chronological order. Earlier legislation is quoted in footnotes to these laws. The laws, Presidential Proclamations, Executive Orders, and Treaties relating to nationality are presented in the second part. Here the current laws are presented in chronological order, followed by the prior laws. Regulations under both the immigration and nationality laws are presented in the third part. A table of contents and a chronological list of the acts are included for ready reference. An index covering the entire volume will be found at page 1501.
