(Psalm cxxxix. 1.-4.) O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my down-sitting and mine up-rising; thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path, and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

The

(Psalm cxlv. 8, 9.) The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. Lord is good to all; and his tender mercies are over all his works.

(John iii. 16.) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

(John xiv. 16.) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.

(Acts xvii. 24, 25.) God, that made the world, aud all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.

(1 Thes. iv. 8.) He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his Holy Spirit.

(Heb. iv. 13.) Neither is their any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. (1 Pet. v. 7.) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

(1 John iv. 9, 10, 14.) In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

QUEST. (John xx. 31.) But these are written, that ye might 11. believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

(1 John iv. 15.) Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God,

QUEST. (2 Cor. i. 3.) Blessed be God, even the Father of 12. our Lord Jesus Christ,

QUEST. (Matt. i. 21.) And she shall bring forth a Son, and 13. thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

(John i. 29.) Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

(1 Tim. i. 15.) This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.

QUEST. (Luke ii. 1-14.) And it came to pass in those 14. days, that there went out a decree from Cesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David :) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger: because there was no room for them in the Inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

(Gal. iv. 4.) But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman.

(Phil. ii. 5-7.) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God,

thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.

QUEST. (Rom. v. 6. 8.) For when we were yet without 15. strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(1 Cor. xv. 3.) For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.

(1 Thes. v. 9, 10.) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us.

QUEST. (Matt. xxvii. 27-54.) Then the soldiers of the 16. governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews! And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name him they compelled to bear his cross. And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull, They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. And sitting down they watched him there; And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, and say. ing, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,

He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the son of God. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth. Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani ? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. And straightway one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; And many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

(1 Cor. ii. 2.) For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

(Phil. ii. 8.) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

QUEST. (Matt. xxvii. 57-60. When the even was come, 17. there came a rich man of Aramathea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: He went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

QUEST. (Matt. xxviii. 1—8.) In the end of the sabbath, as 18. it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you. And they departed quickly from the scpulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

(Acts, x. 39, 40.) And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and banged on a tree : Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly.

(1 Cor. xv. 4.) And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.

QUEST. (Mark, xvi. 19.) So then after the Lord had spoken 19. unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

(Acts, i. 3. 9.) To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:-And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.

QUEST. (Rom. viii. 34.) Who is he that condemneth? It 20. is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

QUEST. (Acts i. 10, 11) And while they looked stedfastly 22. toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by

them in white apparel; Which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same
