JUNE 27-28.

PSALM CX. i.

The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

MARK xvi. 19.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and set on the right hand of God.

CONDE R.

Thou art the King of Glory, blessed Lord!
The Father's everlasting Son;
Eternally the co-existent Word

And now, for victories won

In human flesh, Thee all the heavens adore, Who at the Father's right hand reignest ever

more.

All power in heaven and earth Thou wieldest

there,

The Lord of Hades and of death,

The keys of that dark empire Thou dost bear O'er all things that have breath,

Thy rule extends, by hell in vain opposed; Thou openest, none can shut, nor force what thou hast closed.

JUNE 29-30.

ZECH. X. 5.

And they shall be as mighty men, which tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle: and they shall fight, because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be confounded.

MARK XVI. 20.

And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

HOLM E.

On, on ye swift messengers, heralds of Jesus, O'er mountain, o'er desert, or wave; Proclaim through the nations his power to release us

From terrors of death and the grave.

Go, with the arm of his righteousness o'er you,
The strongholds of sin to destroy;
Go, with the Spirit of glory before you.
To give you a harvest of joy.

[blocks in formation]

He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David.

MORE.

Yes, mighty Jesus thou shalt reign,
Till all thy haughty foes submit ;
Till hell, and all her trembling train,
Become the footstool of thy feet.
Then rescued souls shall bless thy power,
Thy arm shall full salvation bring;
Thy saints in that illustrious hour,

Shall conquer, with their conquering king.
Then, rang'd thy blazing throne around,
The Saviour's honour we'll proclaim;
While heaven's transported realms resound,
Thy glorious deeds and precious name.

JULY 2-3.

ISAIAH xlix. 1.

The Lord hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

LUKE i. 35.

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God.

KEBLE.

Ave Maria!-blessed maid!
Lily of Eden's fragrant shade,
Who can express the love

That nurtur'd thee so pure and sweet
Making thy heart a shelter meet
For Jesus' Holy Dove!

Ave Maria!-mother blest
To whom caressing and caress'd,
Cling the Eternal Child.
Favour'd beyond archangel's dream
When first on thee with tenderest beam
Thy new-born Saviour smil'd.

JULY 4-5.

Is. xi. 1.

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

LUKE i. 68-69.

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel: for he hath visited and redeemed his people, and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us, in the house of his servant David.

J.

MONTGOMERY.

Hail to the Lord's anointed!
Great David's greater Son;
Hail in the time appointed
His reign on earth begun,
He comes to break oppression,
To set the captive free;
To take away transgression,
And rule in equity.
O'er every foe victorious

He on his throne shall rest,
From age to age more glorious
All-blessing and all-blest:
The tide of time shall never
His covenant remove;
His name shall stand for ever
That name to us is-Love.
