EXODUS I Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, The new which knew not Joseph. III king. And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I am come 15 down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, into a land flowing with milk and honey. And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, Ye shall no more give the 20 people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish aught thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice 25 to our God. Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants? There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten ; 5 but the fault is in thine own people. 10 Aaron VII And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as the Lord had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a triumphs over serpent. Then Pharaoh also called the wise men the sorcerers. and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
