4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.

5 But they said, Not on the

6 Da nun Jesus war zu Bethanien im Hause Simons, des Aussätzigen;

7 Trat zu ihm ein Weib, das hatte ein Glas mit föstlichem Wasser; und goß es auf sein Haupt, da er zu Tische saßz.

8 Da das seine Jünger sahen, wurden sie unwillig, und sprachen: wozu dient dieser Unrath?

9 Dieses Wasser hätte mögen theuer verkauft, und den Armen gegeben wer

den.

10 Da das Jesus merkte, sprach er zu ihnen: Was bekümmert ihr das Weib? Sie hat ein gutes Werk an mir gethan.

11 Ihr habt allezeit Arme beh euch; mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit."

12 Daß ste dies Wasser hat auf meinen Leib gegossen, hat sie gethan, daß man mich begraben wird.

13 Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wo dies Evangelium geprediget wird in der ganzen Welt, da wird man auch sagen zu ihrem Gedächtnisse, was sie gethan hat.

14 Da ging hin der Zwölfen einer, mit Namen Judas Ischarioth, zu den Hohenpriestern,

15 und sprach: Was wollt ihr mir geben? Ich will ihn euch verrathen. Und sie boten ihm drehßig Silberlinge.

16 Und von dem an suchte er Gelegenheit, daß er ihn verriethe.

17 Aber am ersten Tage der süßen Brode, traten die Jünger zu Jesu, und sprachen zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir dir bereiten, das Osterlamm zu essen ?

6 T Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

7 There came unto him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head as he sat at meat. 8 But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste?

9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

10 When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.

11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this wornan hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

14 T Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests,

15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

17 T Now on the first day of the feast of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?

18 Er sprach: Gehet hin in die Stadt zu einem, und sprechet zu ihm: Der Meister läßt dir sagen: Meine Zeit ist hier, ich will beh dir Ostern halten mit meinen Jüngern.

19 Und die Jünger thaten, wie ihnen Jesus befohlen hatte, und bereiteten das Osterlamm.

20 und am Abend setzte er sich zu Tische mit den Zwölfen.

21 Und da ste aßen, sprach er: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, Einer unter euch wird mich verrathen.

22 Und sie wurden sehr betrübt, und hoben an, ein Jeglicher unter ihnen, und sagten zu ihm: Herr, bin i ch 8?

23 Er antwortete, und sprach: Der mit der Hand mit mir in die Schüssel taucht, der wird mich verrathen.

24 Des Menschen Sohn gehet zwar dahin, wie von ihm geschrieben stehet: doch wehe dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verrathen wird! Es wäre ihm besser, daß derselbige Mensch noch nie geboren wäre.

25 Da antwortete Judas, der ihn verrieth, und sprach: Bin ich 8, Rabbi? Er sprach zu ihm: Du sagst es.

26 Da sie aber aßen, nahm Jesus das Brod, dankte und brach es, und gab es den Jüngern, und sprach: Nehmet, esset, das ist mein Leib."

27 Und er nahm den Kelch, und dankte, gab ihnen den, und sprach: Trinket Alle daraus;

28 Das ist mein Blut des neuen Testaments, welches vergossen wird für Viele, zur Vergebung der Sünden.

29 Ich sage euch: Ich werde von nun an nicht mehr von diesem Gewächse des Weinstocks trinken, bis an den Tag, da ich es neu trinken werde mit euch in meines Vaters Reiche.

30 Und da sie den Lobgesang ge= sprochen hatten, gingen sie hinaus an den Dehlberg.

31 Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: In dieser Nacht werdet ihr euch alle ärgern an mir. Denn es stehet geschrieben:

18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.

20 Now when the even come, he sat down with the twelve. 21 And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?

23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

24 The Son of man goeth, as it is written of him: but wo unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

25 Then Judas, which betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said unto him, Thou hast said.

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.

27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my ther's kingdom.

30 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.

31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written,

32 Wenn ich aber auferstehe, will ich vor euch hingehen in Galilää. 33 Petrus aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Wenn sie auch alle sich an dir ärgerten, so will ich doch mich nimmermehr ärgern.

34 Jesus sprach zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir: In dieser Nacht, ehe der Hahn krähet, wirst du mich dreymal verleugnen.

35 Petrus sprach zu ihm: Und wenn ich mit dir sterben müßte, so will ich dich nicht verleugnen. Deßgleichen sagten auch alle Jünger.

36 Dá kam Jesus mit ihnen zu einem Hofe, der hieß Gethsemane, und sprach zu seinen Jüngern: Setzet euch hier, bis daß ich dorthin gehe, und bete.

37 Und nahm zu sich Petrum, und die zween Söhne Zebedäi, und an zu trauern und zu zagen.

38 Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist betrübt bis an den Tod; bleibet hier, und wachet mit mir.

39 und ging hin ein wenig, fiel nieder auf sein Angesicht, und betete, und sprach: Mein Vater, ist es möglich, so gehe dieser Kelch von mir; doch nicht wie ich will, sondern wie du willst.

40 Und er kam zu seinen Jüngern, und fand sie schlafend, und sprach zu Betro: Könnet ihr denn nicht Eine Stunde mit mir wachen?

41 Wachet und betet, daß ihr nicht in Anfechtung fallet. Der Geist ist willig, aber das Fleisch ist schwach.

42 Zum andern Male ging er wieder hin, betete, und sprach: Mein Vater, ist es nicht möglich, daß dieser Kelch von mir gehe, ich trinke ihn denn; so geschehe dein Wille.

43 Und er fam, und fand sie abermals schlafend, und ihre Augen waren voll Schlafs.

44 Und er ließ sle, und ging abermal

32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. 33 Peter answered and said unto him, Though all men shall be offended because of thee, yet will I never be offended.

34 Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.

35 Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

36 Then cometh Jesus with them unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and pray yonder.

37 And he took with him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

38 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.

40 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What! could ye not watch with me one hour?

41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is

45 Da fam er zu seinen Jüngern, und sprach zu ihnen: Ach, wollt ihr nun schlafen und ruhen? Siehe, die Stunde ist hier, daß des Menschen Sohn in der Sünder Hände überantwortet wird.

46 Stehet auf, Lasset uns gehen; siche, er ist da, der mich verräth.

47 lnd als er noch redete, siehe, da kam Judas, der Zwölfen einer, und mit ihm eine große Schaar, mit Schwertern und mit Stangen, von den Hohenpriestern und Aeltesten des Volks.

48 Und der Verräther hatte ihnen ein Zeichen gegeben, und gesagt: Welchen ich küssen werde, der ists, den greifet.

49 Und alsobald trat er zu Jesu und sprach: Gegrüßet sehst du, Rabbi! und küssete ihn.

50 Jesus aber sprach zu ihm: Mein Freund, warum bist du gekommen? Da traten sie hinzu, und legten die Hände an Jesum, und griffen ihn.

51 Und siehe, einer aus denen, die mit Jesu waren, reckte die Hand aus, und zog sein Schwert aus, und schlug des Hohenpriesters Knecht, und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.

52 Da sprach Jesus zu ihm: Stecke dein Schwert an seinen Ort; denn wer das Schwert nimmt, der soll durchs Schwert umkommen.

53 Oder meinest du, daß ich nicht könnte meinen Vater bitten, daß er mir zuschickte mehr denn zwölf Legionen Engel?

54 Wie würde aber die Schrift erfüllet? Es muß also gehen.

55 Zu der Stunde sprach Jesus zu den Schaaren: Ihr seyd ausgegangen, als zu einem Mörder, mit Schwertern und mit Stangen, mich zu fangen; bin ich doch täglich gesessen bey euch, und habe gelehret im Tempel, und ihr habt mich nicht gegriffen.

56 Aber das ist alles geschehen, daß erfüllet würden die Schriften der

45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray

me.

47 And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

48 Now he that betrayed him, gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; hold him fast.

49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, Master; and kissed him.

50 And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come Then came they, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

51 And behold, one of them which were with Jesus, stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and smote off his ear.

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword, shall perish with the sword.

53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

55 In that same hour said Jesus

to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be

57 Die aber Jesum gegriffen hatten, führeten ihn zu dem Hohenpriester Caiphas, dahin die Schriftgelehrten und Aeltesten sich versammelt hatten.

58 Petrus aber folgte ihm nach von ferne, bis in den Pallast des Hohenpriesters; und ging hinein, und setzte sich bey den Knechten, auf daß er sähe, wo es hinaus wollte.

59 Die Hohenpriester aber und Aelteften, und der ganze Rath, suchten falsch Zeugniß wider Jesum, auf daß sie ihn tödteten;

60 und fanden keins. Und wiewohl viele falsche Zeugen herzu traten, fanden sie doch keins. Zuletzt traten herzu zween falsche Zeugen,

61 Und sprachen: Er hat gesagt: Ich kann den Tempel Gottes abbrechen, und in dreyen Tagen denselben bauen. 62 Und der Hohepriester stand auf, und sprach zu ihm: Antwortest du nichts zu dem, was diese wider dich zeugen?

63 Aber Jesus schwieg stille. Und der Hohepriester antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Ich beschwöre dich bey dem lebendigen Gott, daß du uns sagest, ob du sehst Christus, der Sohn Gottes.

64 Jesus sprach zu ihm: Du sagest es. Doch sage ich euch: Von nun an wird es geschehen, daß ihr sehen werdet des Menschen Sohn sitzen zur Rechten der Kraft, und kommen in den Wolfen des Himmels.

65 Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider, und sprach: Er hat Gott gelästert; was bedürfen wir weiter Zeugniß? Siehe, jetzt habt ihr seine Gotteslästerung gehöret.

66 Was dünkt euch? Sie antworteten, und sprachen: Er ist des Todes schuldig.

67 Da speheten sie aus in sein Angeficht, und schlugen ihn mit Fäusten. Etliche aber schlugen ihn ins Angesicht,

68 und sprachen: Weissage uns Christe, wer ist es, der dich schlug?

57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus, led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

58 But Peter followed him afar off, unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end.

59 Now the chief priests, and | elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

60 But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses, 61 And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

62 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ the Son of God.

64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless, I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. 66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

67 Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,

68 Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
