MURDER OF VICE-CONSUL IMBRIE. Maj. Robert Imbrie, American vice-consul in Teheran. Persia, was killed by a mob in that city July 18. 1924, and Melin Seymour, also an American. was severely beaten. Persians alleged that the consul and his companion at tempted to take photographs at a certain fountain or locality considered sacred by the natives. The United States demanded imme. diate protection for other American officials in Persia, the punishment of the persons guilty of the assault on Maj. Imbrie and Mr. Seymour and an indemnity. On Oct. 2 three Persians, one an officer, were executed by a firing squad in Teheran and the Per sian treasury remitted $60,000 as indemnity to Mrs. Imbrie, widow of the major. Maj.
