AN ACT

For the relief of Antonio or Anthony Maurin.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the administration of the immigration and naturalization laws the Attorney General be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to record the lawful admission for permanent residence of Antonio or Anthony Maurin as of May 17, 1926, the date on which he entered the United States, if he is found to be otherwise admissible under the provisions of the immigration laws, other than those relating to quotas. Upon the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quota-control officer to deduct one number from the quota for the country properly chargeable therewith.

For the relief of Adolf Leon and his wife Felicia.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the administration of the immigration and naturalization laws the Attorney General be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to record the lawful admission for permanent residence of Adolf Leon and his wife Felicia, as of September 4, 1939, the date on which they were admitted temporarily to the United States. Upon the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quotacontrol officer to deduct two numbers from the Rumanian quota of the first year that the said Rumanian quota is available.

AN ACT

For the relief of Tibor Hoffmann and Magda Hoffmann.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the administration of the immigration and naturalization laws Tibor Hoffmann and his wife Magda Hoffmann shall be held and considered to have been legally admitted to the United States for permanent residence on the date of their entry into the United States. Upon the enactment of this Act the Secretary of State is authorized and directed to instruct the proper quota-control officer to deduct two numbers from the nonpreference category of the Hungarian quota.

AN ACT

For the relief of Louise Hsien Djen Lee Lum.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of tha United States of America in Congress assembled, That from and after the date of the approval of this Act, Louise Hsien Djen Lee Lum, who was admitted into the Territory of Hawaii on June 29, 1934, for a temporary stay and is the Chinese wife of a citizen of the United States and the mother of two children born in the United States, shall be deemed to have been lawfully admitted as an immigrant for permanent residence.

AN ACT

For the relief of Ernestine Huber Neuheller.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the administration of the immigration laws, relating to the issuance of immigration visas for admission to the United States for permanent residence and relating to admissions at ports of entry of aliens as immigrants for permanent residence in the United States, that provision of section 3 of the Immigration Act of 1917 (39 Stat. 875), as amended (U. S. C., title 8, sec. 136 (c)), which excludes from admission into the United States "persons who have been convicted of or admit having committed a felony or other crime or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude", shall not hereafter be held to apply to Ernestine Huber Neuheller, who is the wife of Fritz Neuheller, an American citizen. If she is found otherwise admissible under the immigration laws an immigration visa may be issued and admission granted to Ernestine Huber Neuheller (nee Ernestine Huber) under this Act upon application hereafter filed.

SEC. 2. Upon the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quota-control officer to deduct one number from the nonpreference category of the quota during the current year. Approved, March 18, 1940.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That in the adminis tration of the immigration and naturalization laws the Attorney General be. and is hereby, authorized and directed to cancel the warrant of arrest and the order of deportation heretofore issued against Albert Edward Whiteside, and that the alien shall not bereafter become subject to deportation for the cause contained in the present warrant

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That in the administration of the immigration and naturalization laws the Attorney General be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to record the lawful admission for permanent residence of Marie Engert as of July 6, 1939, the date on which she entered the United States, if she is found to be otherwise admissible under the provisions of the immigration laws, other than those relating to quotas. Upon the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper quota-control officer to deduct one number from the quota of the appropriate nation when such quota number becomes available.
