Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the
United States of America in Congress assembled, That this Act,
divided into titles, chapters, and sections according to the following
table of contents, may be cited as the "Immigration and
Nationality Act" [8 U.S.C. 1101, note].

The provisions of title 8, United States Code, have not been codified into positive law. For a

proposed codification of such title into positive law in a structure significantly different and

using different language from the current law, see H.R. 2925, as introduced in the 101st

Congress.
