after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they offered before the LORD, and died:

27 And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

2 And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto Aaron thy brother, that he come not at all times § into the holy place within the vail, before the mercy-seat which is upon the ark, that he die not: for I will appear in the cloud upon the mercy-seat.

3 Thus shall Aaron come into the holy place; with a young bullock for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering.

4 He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with the linen girdle, and with the linen mitre † shall he + be attired; these are holy garments: therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and so put them on.

5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel, two kids of the goats for a sinoffering, and one ram for a burntoffering.

28 But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. *

29 And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

30 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin-offering, and the other for a burnt-offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness,

31 Thus shall ye separate the children of Israel from their uncleanness that they die not in their uncleanness, when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.

* Though Scripture doth not mention that she is to wash her clothes and bathe herself in water on the seventh day in the evening, it is understood to be so; and is to be learned from the cleansing of the issue in a man, in verse 13.

The high-priest entered into the holiest of all but once a year, and that was on the day of atonement, which is the tenth day of the month Tishri.

The Hebrew expression literally signifies, that he shall encompass his head in a linen mitre ; the verb being, a verb-active, meaning, he shall surround or encompass; and the accusation, his head, is understood.

This atonement was not to be done till after the lots of the goats were drawn, as in ver. 11.

48 ¶ And if the priest shall AND the LORD spake unto Moses,

and to Aaron, saying,

* come in, and look upon it, and behold, the plague hath not spread in the house, after the house was plaistered: then the priest shall pronounce the house clean, because the plague is healed.

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue † out of his flesh, because of his issue, he is unclean.

49 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedarwood, and scarlet, § and hyssop.

3 And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uneleanness.

57 To teach when it is unclean, and when it is clean: this is the law of the leprosy.

50 And he shall kill the one of the birds in an earthen vessel, over running water.

51 And he shall take the cedarwood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.,

52 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedar-wood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet.

53 But he shall let go the living bird out of the city into the open fields, and make an atonement for the house and it shall be clean.

54 This is the law for all manner of plague, of leprosy, and scall,

55 And for the leprosy of a garment, and of an house,

56 And for a rising, and for a scab, and for a bright spot:

4 Every bed whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean : and every thing whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.

5 And whosoever toucheth his bed, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

6 And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

7. And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue, shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.

8 And if he that hath the issue spit upon him that is clean; then he shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.
