Mark R. Lipschutz lived for three years in West Africa, earned a Ph.D. in African History at the University of California, Los Angeles, and is currently assistant director for physical planning at UCLA. R. Kent Rasmussen has traveled extensively in East and Southern Africa and written books on Africa. He earned a Ph.D. in History at UCLA, where he is an editor for the Marcus Garvey Papers project.
