BRIDGE ACROSS SABINE RIVER WHERE LOUISIANA HIGHWAY NO. 21 MEETS TEXAS HIGHWAY NO. 45

Mr. RAYBURN, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany S. 5456]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 5456) to extend the time for construction of a free highway bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway No. 21 meets Texas Highway No. 45, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill (S. 5456, 71st Cong., 3d sess.) extending the times for commencing and completing the construction of a free highway bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway No. 21 meets Texas Highway No. 45, if amended as indicated in red thereon.

DEAR SENATOR: Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of December 20, transmitting a copy of a bill (S. 5456), with request that the committee be furished with such suggestions touching its merits and the propriety of its passage as the department might deem appropriate.

This bill would extend for one and three years, respectively, from January 29, 1931, the times for commencing and completing the construction of the bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway No. 21 meets Texas Highway No. 45, authorized by act of Congress approved January 29, 1929, to be built by the State highway departments of Louisiana and Texas. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 5457) authorizing the State of Louisiana and the State of Texas to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway No. 6 meets Texas Highway No. 21, having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

Mr. RAYBURN, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany S. 5458]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 5458) authorizing the State of Louisiana and the State of Texas to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway No. 7 meets Texas Highway No. 87, having considered and amended the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

Amend the bill as follows:

Line 9, after the word "and" strike out the word "Orange" and insert the word "Newton" in lieu thereof.

Page 2, line 1, after the words "Texas Highway Numbered" strike out the figure "7" and insert the figures "87" in lieu thereof. Amend the title to read as follows:

Authorizing the State of Louisiana and the State of Texas to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Sabine River where Louisiana Highway Numbered 7 meets Texas Highway Numbered 87.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.
