FEBRUARY 5, 1931.-Referred to the House Calendar and ordered to be printed

Mr. BURTNESs, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany S. 5392]

The Commitee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (S. 5392) to legalize a bridge across the Pigeon River at or near Mineral Center, Minn., having considered the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

WAR DEPARTMENT, December 29, 1930. Respectfully returned to the chairman Committee on Commerce, United States Senate.

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill (S. 5392, 71st Cong., 3d sess.) to legalize a bridge across the Pigeon River at or near Duluth, Minn., if amended as indicated in red thereon.

PATRICK J. HURLEY,
Secretary of War.

DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULture,

Washington, D. C., December 31, 1980.

Hon. HIRAM W. JOHNSON,

Chairman Committee on Commerce,

United States Senate.

DEAR SENATOR: Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of December 18, transmitting a copy of a bill, S. 5392, with request that the committee be furnished with such suggestions touching its merits and the propriety of its passage as the department might deem appropriate.

This bill would legalize the bridge heretofore constructed across the Pigeon River at or near Duluth, Minn., on Trunk Highway No. 1, connecting the State of Minnesota with the Province of Ontario, Canada. The bill would legalize a bridge which, it would appear, already has been constructed. It, therefore, is without objection so far as this department is concerned.

Sincerely,

R. W. DUNLAP, Acting Secretary.
