HAP. 1.-An ACT to make available for general purposes an appropriation heretofore made for the legislative reference bureau, for certain specific [S B 33]

purposes.

Approved January 21, 1918.

Whereas, because of extraordinary duties imposed upon the legislative reference bureau in connection with activities occasioned by the present war, the funds available for the regular salaries and expenses of the bureau have become exhausted; and

Whereas, the general assembly at its last session appropriated twelve hundred dollars for extra help and expenses during the session of nineteen hundred and eighteen, which sum it is desirable to make immediately available; and

Whereas, it is desirable that the twelve hundred dollars appropriated for this specific purpose shall become available at once, not only for the specific purpose for which that appropriation was made, but also to pay regular salaries and expenses of the bureau, which have not been and which cannot now be paid for want of apropriation, therefore

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the Sum of one thousand two hundred dollars, heretofore appropriated for extra help and expenses during the session of nineteen hundred and eighteen, may not only be used for that purpose, but may also be used to pay regular salaries and expenses of the bureau which ave not been heretofore paid and which must be incurred and paid p to March first, nineteen hundred and eighteen.
