TWELVE LECTURES ON THE CATECHISM, CONFIRMATION & COMMUNION SERVICES. WITH PRAYERS, EXAMINATION PAPERS, &c. BY THE REV. T. WADE SMITH OF EMMANUEL COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE; AND CURATE OF BURBAGE, WILTS. "God is my record, how greatly I long after you all.”—PHIL. i. 8. LONDON: HAMILTON, ADAMS, & Co., 32, PATERNOSTER ROW. BRISTOL: I. E. CHILLCOTT, 26, CLARE STREET. PREFACE. THE primary object of having these Lectures printed was that a copy might be given to each candidate on the anniversary of their Confirmation; but thinking that they might prove useful to some of my fellow Clergy in the preparation of candidates, I have, in all humility, had them published. The great object aimed at has been clearness of expression, and simplicity of language; and they are so written, that they may, for the most part, be delivered by question and answer. They may contain nothing new, for they affect not deep theology, but an earnest desire that the candidates may not forget the solemn obligation they are under to serve the Lord all the days of their life, nor neglect to avail themselves of the appointed means of Grace offered them, to the saving of their souls alive.
