Now this he spake, signifying by what man- 19 ner of death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me. Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus 20 loved following; which also leaned back on his breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee? Peter therefore seeing him saith to 21 Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do? Jesus 22 saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. This saying 23 therefore went forth among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, that he should not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? 5 Gr. and man, what? this This is the disciple which beareth witness of these 24 things, and wrote these things: and we know that his witness is true. Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judæa 10 and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia, in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and sojourners from Rome, both Jews and 11 proselytes, Cretans and Arabians, we do hear them speaking in our tongues the mighty works of God. 12 And they were all amazed, and were perplexed, say13 ing one to another, What meaneth this? But others mocking said, They are filled with new wine. 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spake forth unto them, saying, Ye men of Judæa, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and give ear unto my 15 words.
