sagen: Sammelt zuvor das Unkraut, und bindet es in Bündlein, daß man es verbrenne; aber den Weizen sammelt mir in meine Scheuren.

31 Ein anderes Gleichniß legte er ihnen vor, und sprach: Das Himmelreich ist gleich einem Senfforne, das ein Mensch nahm, und fäcte es auf seinen Acker.

32 Welches das kleinste ist unter allen Samen; wenn es aber erwächst, fo ist es das größeste unter dem Kohl, und wird ein Baum, daß die Vögel unter dem Himmel kommen, und wohnen unter seinen Zweigen.

33 Ein anderes Gleichnißzredete er zu ihnen: Das Himmelreich ist einem Sauerteige gleich, den ein Weib nahm, und vermengete ihn unter drey Scheffel Mehl, bis daß es gar durchsäuert ward.

34 Solches alles redete Jesus durch Gleichnisse zu dem Volke, und ohne Gleichnisse redete er nicht zu ihnen.

Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

31 ¶ Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard-seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

32 Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

36 Da ließ Jesus das Volk von sich, und kam heim. Und seine Jünger traten zu ihm, und sprachen: Deute uns dieses Gleichniß vom Unkraut auf dem Acker.

37 Er antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Des Menschen Sohn ist es, der da guten Samen fäet.

38 Der Acker ist die Welt. Der gute Same sind die Kinder des Reichs. Das Unkraut sind die Kinder der Bosheit.

39 Der Feind, der sie säet, ist der Teufel. Die Ernte ist das Ende der Selt. Die Schnitter sind die Engel.

40 Gleichwie man nun das Unkraut usgätet, und mit Feuer verbrennt; fo wird es auch am Ende dieser Welt ergehen.

41 Des Menschen Sohn wird seine

36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.

41 The Son of man shall send

42 Und werden sie in den Feuerofen werfen da wird sehn Heulen und Zähnklappen.

43 Dann werden die Gerechten leuchten, wie die Sonne, in ihres Vaters Reiche. Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre.

44 Abermal ist gleich das Himmelreich einem verborgenen Schatze im Acter, welchen ein Mensch fand, und verbarg ihn, und ging hin vor Freuden über denselbigen, und verkaufte alles, was er hatte, und kaufte den Acker.

45 Abermal ist gleich das Himmelreich einem Kaufmanne, der gute Perlen suchte.

46 Und da er eine köstliche Perle fand, ging er hin, und verkaufte alles, was er hatte, und kaufte dieselbige.

47 Abermal ist gleich das Himmelreich einem Netze, das ins Meer geworfen ist, damit man allerley Gattung fänget.

48 Wenn es aber voll ist, so ziehen sie es heraus an das Ufer, sitzen und lesen die guten in ein Gefäß zusammen, aber die faulen werfen sie weg.

49 Also wird es auch am Ende der Welt gehen. Die Engel werden ausgehen, und die Bösen von den Gerechten scheiden,

50 und werden sle in den Feuerofen werfen: da wird Heulen und Zähnklappen seyn.

51 Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Habt ihr das alles verstanden? Sie sprachen: Ja, Herr.

52 Da sprach er: Darum, ein jeglicher Schriftgelehrter, zum Himmelreiche gelehrt, ist gleich einem Hausvater, der aus seinem Schatze Neues und Altes hervor trägt.

53 Und es begab sich, da Jesus diese Gleichnisse vollendet hatte, ging er von dannen,

54 Und fam in sein Vaterland, und lehrete sie in ihren Schulen, also auch,

42 And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

44 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant-man seeking goodly pearls:

46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

51 Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things? They say unto him, Yea, Lord.

52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven, is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

53 ¶ And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them

55 Ist er nicht eines Zimmermanns Sohn? Heißt nicht seine Mutter Maria? Und seine Brüder Jakob, und Joses, und Simon, und Judas? 56 Und seine Schwestern, sind ste nicht alle bey uns? Woher kommt ihm denn das alles ?

57 Und ärgerten sich an ihm. Jesus aber sprach zu ihnen: Ein Prophet gilt nirgend weniger, denn in seinem Baterlande und in seinem Hause.

58 Und er that daselbst nicht viele Zeichen, um ihres Unglaubens willen.

Das 14 Capitel.

u der Zeit kam das Gerücht von Jefu vor den Bierfürften Herodes.

2 Und er sprach zu seinen Knechten: Dieser ist Johannes, der Täufer; er ist von den Todten auferstanden, darum thut er solche Thaten.

3 Denn Herodes hatte Johannem gegriffen, gebunden und in das Gefängniß gelegt, von wegen der Herodias, feines Bruders Philippi Weib. 4 Denn Johannes hatte zu ihm gesagt: Es ist nicht recht, daß du ste habest.

5 und er hätte ihn gern getödtet, fürchtete sich aber vor dem Volke: denn fle hielten ihn für einen Propheten.

6 Da aber Herodes seinen Jahrstag beging, da tanzte die Tochter der He rodias vor ihnen. Das geftel Herodi ohl.

7 Darum verhieß er ihr mit einem de, er wollte ihr geben, was sie forrn würde.

3 Und als sie zuvor von ihrer Mutr zugerichtet war, sprach sie: Gib mir er auf einer Schüssel das Haupt Johannis, des Täufers.

Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?

56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

58 And he did not many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.

CHAPTER XIV.

T that time Herod the Tetrarch

A heard of the fame of Jesus,

2 And said unto his servants, This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead; and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.

3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.

4 For John said unto him, It is not lawful for thee to have her.

5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

6 But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod.

7 Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she would ask.

8 And she, being before instructed of her mother, said, Give me here John Baptist's head in a charger.

10 Und schickte hin, und enthauptete Johannem im Gefängniß.

11 Und sein Haupt ward hergetragen in einer Schüssel, und dem Mägdlein gegeben; und sie brachte es ihrer Mutter.

12 Da tamen seine Jünger, und nahmen seinen Leib, und begrüben ihn, und famen und verkündigten das Jesu.

13 Da das Jesus hörete, wich er von dannen auf einem Schiff, in eine Wüste allein. Und da das Volk das hörete, folgte es ihm nach zu Fuß aus den Städten.

14 Und Jesus ging hervor, und sah das große Volf; und es jammerte ihn derselbigen, und heitete ihre Kranken.

15 Am Abend aber traten seine Jünger zu ihm, und sprachen: Dies ist eine Wüste, und die Nacht fällt daher; laß das Volk von dir, daß sie hin in die Märkte gehen, und ihnen Speise kaufen.

16 Aber Jesus sprach zu ihnen: Es ist nicht Noth, daß sie hingehen; gebt ihr ihnen zu essen.

17 Sie sprachen: Wir haben hier nichts, denn fünf Brode und zween Fische.

18 Und er sprach: Bringet mir sie her.

19 Und er hieß das Volk sich lagern auf das Gras, und nahm die fünf Brode und die zween Fische, sah af gen Himmel, und dankte, und brach es, und gab die Brode den Jüngern; und die Jünger gaben sie dem Völke.

20 Und sie aßen alle, und wurden satt, und hoben auf, was übrig blieb von Brocken zwölf Körbe voll.

21 Die aber gegessen hatten, derer waren beh fünf tausend Mann, ohne Weiber und Kinder.

22 Und alsobald trieb Jesus seine Jünger, daß sie in das Schiff traten,

he commanded it to be given her. 10 And he sent, and beheaded John in the prison.

11 And his head was brought in a charger, and given to the damsel: and she brought it to her mother.

12 And his disciples came, and took up the body, and buried it, and went and told Jesus.

13 ¶ When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.

14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and I he healed their sick.

15 ¶ And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.

16 But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

17 And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

18 He said, Bring them hither to

me.

19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a

25 Aber in der vierten Nachtwache kam Jesus zu ihnen, und ging auf dem Meere.

26 Und da ihn die Jünger sahen auf dem Meere gehen, erschraken sie, und sprachen: Es ist ein Gespenst; und schrieen vor Furcht.

27 Aber alsobald redete Jesus mit ihnen, und sprach: Seyd getrost, Ich bin es; fürchtet euch nicht.

28 Petrus aber antwortete ihm, und sprach: Herr, bist Du es, so heiß mich zu dir kommen auf dem Wasser. 29 Und er sprach: Komm her. Und Petrus trat aus dem Schiffe, und ging auf dem Wasser, daß er zu Jesu käme.

30 Er sah aber einen starken Wind. Da erschrat er, und hob an zu sinken, schrie und sprach: Herr, hilf mir!

31 Jesus aber recte bald die Hand aus, und ergriff ihn, und sprach zu ihm: O du Kleingläubiger, warum zweifeltest du?

32 Und sie traten in das Schiff, und der Wind legte sich.

33 Die aber im Schiffe waren, kamen und fielen vor ihm nieder, und sprachen: Du bist wahrlich Gottes Sohn.

34 Und sie schifften hinüber, und kamen in das Land Genezareth.

35 Und da die Leute an demselbigen Orte Seiner gewahr wurden, schickten sie aus in das ganze Land umher, und brachten allerleh Ungesunde zu ihm.

36 Und baten ihn, daß sie nur seines Kleides Saum anrühreten. Und

23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.

29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.

33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

34 ¶ And when they were gone over, they came into the land of Gennesaret.

35 And when the men of that place had knowledge of him, they sent out into all that country round about, and brought unto him all that were diseased;

36 And besought him that they might only touch the hem of his
