Upon the Rock of Ages They raise thy holy tower; Thou feel'st in mystic rapture, The Prince's loveliest smile; Of living pearl thine own; The Bridegroom thine alone. The only art thou needest- The only joy thou seekest The Life where Death is not. In sweetest accents, sings The ill that was thy merit, The wealth that is thy King's! JERUSALEM THE GOLDEN. Jerusalem the Golden, With milk and honey blest, Sink heart and voice oppressed. What social joys are there! What bliss beyond compare! They stand, those halls of Syon, And bright with many an angel, There is the Throne of David, And there, from care released, Are clad in robes of white! |
