Eighty-sixth Congress

First Session

Proceedings in the House

MONDAY, January 26, 1959.

The Chaplain, Rev. Bernard Braskamp, D.D., offered the following prayer:

Isaiah 12: 2: The Lord Jehovah is my strength, my song, and my salvation.

Infinite and eternal God, as we continue to address ourselves to the responsibilities of this new day, may we be blessed with the spirit of wholehearted devotion.

Expand and enlarge our feelings of concern and considerateness for Thy needy children who are hungry and homeless and hopeless.

Daily may we gird ourselves with courage and confidence as we seek to build a world fellowship ruled by the ideals and principles of the lowly man of Galilee.

We thank Thee for the life and ministry of our colleague whom Thou hast called unto Thyself to dwell with Thee in eternal blessedness. Grant unto the members of his family the consolations of Thy grace.

Hear us in Christ's name. Amen.

Mr. CANNON. Mr. Speaker, I offer a resolution (H. Res. 134) which I send to the desk.
