*INDUSTRIAL EXECUTIVES

Broad investigation by the Carnegie foundation brought out the fact that in the rating of industrial executives who are college graduates more weight is given to personal qualities than to technical training. A circular letter was sent out in 1915 asking the question, "What are the most important factors in determining probable success or failure in engineering?" Answers received from 1500 engineers brought the following unexpected estimate of the qualities:

[blocks in formation]

*These qualities: Character 41%, Judgment 172%, Efficiency 142%, Understanding of men 14%, are the inheritance of "The House of Israel."
