fied by the law; ye are fallen 5 away from grace. For we through the Spirit by faith wait for the hope of righteousFor in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision; but faith working 7 through love. Ye were running well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey 8 the truth? This persuasion came not of him that calleth 9 you. A little leaven leaveneth 10 the whole lump. I have confidence to you-ward in the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgement, whosoever he be. 11 But I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still persecuted? then hath the stumblingblock of the 12 cross been done away. I would that they which unsettle you would even 2cut themselves off.

the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would. But if ye are 18 led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the 19 works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, 20 strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, 3 heresies, envyings, drunkenness, revel- 21 lings, and such like: of the which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they which practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the 22 fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meek- 23 ness, 5 temperance: against such there is no law. And 24 they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof.

If we live by the Spirit, by 25 the Spirit let us also walk. Let us not be vainglorious, 26 provoking one another, envying one another.

Brethren, even if a man be 1 6 overtaken in any trespass, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of meekness; looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear 2 ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. For if a man thinketh him- 3 self to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. But let each man prove 4

his own work, and then shall as desire to make a fair show he have his glorying in regard in the flesh, they compel you of himself alone, and not of to be circumcised; only that 5 1his neighbour. For each man they may not be persecuted shall bear his own 2burden. 4 for the cross of Christ. For 13 not even they who 5 receive circumcision do themselves keep the law; but they desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory, 14 save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through 7 which the world hath been crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For neither is circumcision 15 anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new 8 creature. And as many as shall walk 16 by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

But let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all 7 good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that 8 shall he also reap. For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not be weary in well-doing for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us work that which is good toward all men, and especially toward them that are of the household of the faith.

From henceforth let no man 17 trouble me: for I bear branded on my body the marks of Jesus.

The grace of our Lord Jesus 18 Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

THE EPISTLE OF PAUL THE APOSTLE TO THE

EPHESIANS.

in

11 PAUL, an apostle of Christ
Jesus through the will of God,
to the saints which are at
Ephesus, and the faithful
2 Christ Jesus: Grace to you
and peace from God our Fa-
ther and the Lord Jesus
Christ.

2 Or, load

Blessed be the God and 3 Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ: even as he chose us 4 in him before the foundation of the world, that we should

For this cause I also, hav- 15 ing heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and which ye shew toward all the saints, cease not 16 to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord 17 Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; having the eyes of your heart 18 enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what the exceeding great- 19 ness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might which he wrought in 20 Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above 21 all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and he put all things in sub- 22 jection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, which 23 is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

And you did he quicken, 1 2 when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins, wherein aforetime ye walked 2 according to the 10 course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the

also all once lived in the lusts
of our flesh, doing the desires
of the flesh and of the 1mind,
and were by nature children
of wrath, even as the rest:-
4 but God, being rich in mercy,
for his great love wherewith
5 he loved us, even when we
were dead through our tres-
passes, quickened us together
2 with Christ (by grace have
6 ye been saved), and raised us
up with him, and made us to
sit with him in the heavenly
7 places, in Christ Jesus: that
in the ages to come he might
shew the exceeding riches of
his grace in kindness toward
8 us in Christ Jesus: for by
grace have ye been saved
through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of
9 God: not of works, that no
10 man should glory. For we
are his workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God afore prepared
that we should walk in them.
Wherefore remember, that
aforetime ye, the Gentiles in
the flesh, who are called Un-
circumcision by that which is
called Circumcision, in the
12 flesh, made by hands; that ye
were at that time separate
from Christ, alienated from
the commonwealth of Israel,
and strangers from the cove-
nants of the promise, having
no hope and without God in
13 the world. But now in Christ

of Christ. For he is our peace, 14
who made both one, and brake
down the middle wall of parti-
tion, having abolished in his 15
flesh the enmity, even the law
of commandments contained
in ordinances; that he might
create in himself of the twain
one new man, so making peace;
and might reconcile them 16
both in one body unto God
through the cross, having
slain the enmity thereby: and 17
he came and preached peace
to you that were far off, and
peace to them that were nigh:
for through him we both have 18
our access in one Spirit unto
the Father. So then ye are 19
no more strangers and so-
journers, but ye are fellow-
citizens with the saints, and
of the household of God, being 20
built upon the foundation of
the apostles and prophets,
Christ Jesus himself being the
chief corner stone; in whom 21
each several building, fitly
framed together, groweth into
a holy temple in the Lord;
in whom ye also are builded 22
together for a habitation of
God in the Spirit.

For this cause I Paul, the 1 3 prisoner of Christ Jesus in behalf of you Gentiles,—if so 2 be that ye have heard of the 7 dispensation of that grace of God which was given me to you-ward; how that by revela- 3 tion was made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote

Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach unto the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of 9 Christ; and to 1 make all men see what is the 2dispensation of the mystery which from all ages hath been hid in God who created all things; 10 to the intent that now unto the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places might be made known through the church the manifold wis11 dom of God, according to the 3 eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our 12 Lord: in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him. 13 Wherefore I ask that 5 ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which are your glory.

whom every 7 family in heaven and on earth is named, that 16 he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; that Christ 17 may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strong to 18 apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to 19 know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye may be filled unto all the fulness of God.

Now unto him that is able 20 to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be 21 the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus unto all generations for ever and ever. Amen.

I therefore, the prisoner in 1 4 the Lord, beseech you to walk worthily of the calling wherewith ye were called, with all 2 lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; giving dili- 3 gence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one 4 Spirit, even as also ye were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, 5 one baptism, one God and 6 Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.
