I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.-PHIL. 3. 14.

AWAKE, my soul, stretch every nerve.

And press with vigour on:

A heavenly race demands thy zeal,
And an immortal crown.

2 A cloud of witnesses around
Hold thee in full survey;
Forget the steps already trod,
And onward urge thy way.

3 'Tis God's all animating voice
That calls thee from on high;
'Tis his own hand presents the prize
To thine uplifted eye.

4 Then wake, my soul, stretch every nerve

And press with vigour on;

A heavenly race demands thy zeal,
And an immortal crown.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all

ye

lands.

BE

PSA. 100. 1.

EFORE Jehovah's awful throne
Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone,-
He can create, and he destroy.

2 His sov'reign power, without our aid,
Made us of clay, and form'd us men ;
And when, like wand'ring sheep, we stray'd
He brought us to His fold again.

3 We are thy people, we thy care;
Our souls and all our mortal frame:
What lasting honours shall we rear,
Almighty Maker, to thy name!

4 We'll crowd thy gates with thankful songs
High as the heavens our voices raise:
And earth, with her ten thousand tongues,.
Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise.
5 Wide as the world is thy command,
Vast as eternity thy love;

Firm as a rock thy truth must stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.

L. M Behold, I stand at the door, and knock.-REV. 3. 20. EHOLD a stranger at the door;

BEHO

He gently knocks, has knocked before; Hath waited long,-is waiting still; You treat no other friend so ill.

2 O, lovely attitude! He stands

With melting heart and outstretched hands!
O, matchless kindness! and he shows
This matchless kindness to his foes!
3 Admit him, ere his anger burn.
His feet departed ne'er return;
Admit him, or the hour's at hand
You'll at his door rejected stand.

Behold the Lamb of God!-JOHN 1. 29
EHOLD the Lamb of God,

Bwho takes my sin away,

And, cleansing me in precious blod,
Leaves naught for me to pay.

18

2 The sin-atoning Lamb.
The Sacrifice for me;
Pardoned and justified I am,
From condemnation free.

3 My Saviour and my God
Was crucified for me;
For me he shed his precious blood
Upon the cursed tree.

4 He died my soul to save

How rich, how free his love!

Through him I triumph o'er the grave,
And reign with him above.

11, 8. Know ye that the Lord he is God.-PSA. 100. 8.

BE joyful in God, all ye lands of the earth;

Oh, serve him with gladness and foar; Exult in his presence with music and mirth; With love and devotion draw near.

2 For Jehovah is God, and Jehovah alone, Creator and Ruler o'er all;

And we are his people, his sceptre we own; His sheep, and we follow his call.

3 Oh, enter his gates with thanksgiving and

song;

Your vows in his temple proclaim;

His praise with melodious accordance prolong, And bless his adorable name.

4 For good is the Lord, inexpressibly good, And we are the work of his hand;

His mercy and truth from eternity stood,
And shall to eternity stand.

We are one body in Christ.-ROM. 12. 5.
OLEST be the tie that binds

BLEST

Our hearts in Christian love,-
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

2 Before our Father's throne
We pour our ardent prayers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one,
Our comforts, and our cares.

3 We share our mutual woes,
Our mutual burdens bear,
And often for each other flows
The sympathizing tear.

4 The glorious hope revives
Our courage by the way,
While each in expectation lives,
And longs to see the day.

5 From sorrow, toil, and pain,
And sin, we shall be free;

And perfect love and friendship rergn
Through all eternity.

In the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet

sound.-LEV. 23. 9.

BLOW ye the trumpet, blow

The gladly solemn sound;

Let all the nations know,

To earth's remotest bound,

The year of Jubilee is come,

Return, ye ransomed sinners, home

21

2 Exalt the Lamb of God,
The sin-atoning Lamb;
Redemption by his blood

Through all the lands proclaim;
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home,

3 Ye who have sold for naught
The heritage above,
Shall have it back unbought,
The gift of Jesus' love;
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.

4 The gospel trumpet hear,
The news of pard'ning grace;
Ye happy souls, draw near,
Behold your Saviour's face:
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransomed sinners, home.

11, 10

We have seen his star in th ast, and are come to worship him.-MATT. 2. 2.

BRIGHT

RIGHTEST and best of the sons of the morning,

Dawn on our darkness and lend us thine aid! Star of the East, the horizon adorning,

Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

2 Cold on his cradle the dewdrops are shining, Low lies his head with the beasts of the stall; Angels adore him in slumber reclining,

Maker, and Monarch, and Saviour of ail
