THE DEATH F A. J. VOLPY, whose aime is familiar to almost every modera student of the classics is announced. The Courier says of him: Abraham John Valpy was the son of Dr. Valpy, one of the meat eminent classical scholars that England ever produced. He was educated
* Oxford University, and learned the printers art chiefly in order that the various classical works of his father might be publiebed in an accurato banner He established a printing office in London, and projected the publieation of various other classical productions bebides those of his father. The principal of these was the fx. mous edition of the "Deipbin Classics," which was commerced in 1819 and finished in 1830. It was published under the pr* rouage of the Prince kegent, and 800a became celebrsted taronghout the learned world. Heiry Stepben's Greek Thesaurus" was also one of his publicaticas. Mr, Valpy, having realized a fortune, retired from business some years since.
