HYMN 7.

Awake! rejoice! and hail the morn,
Whereon the Prince of Life was born;
With grateful hearts arise and sing,
Hosannah to th' eternal King;
Let all the earth proclaim the morn
Whereon the King of Kings was born.
He came, He came, the incarnate God,
This dreary world made his abode;
The angel hosts their Lord proclaim'd,
And Jesus was this Saviour nam'd
All Heaven exulted on that morn,
Whereon the Lord of Lords was born.
Arise, and join the choirs above,
And sing the great Immanuel's love,
In sweetest strains they jointly cry,
All glory be to God on high;

Let Heav'n and earth proclaim the morn,
Whereon the Prince of Peace was born.

HYMN 8.

Awake my soul, and with the sun
Thy daily stage of duty run;
Shake off dull sloth, and early rise
To pay thy morning sacrifice.

Redeem thy misspent moments past,
And live this day as if the last;
Thy talents to improve take care,
For the great day thyself prepare.
Let all thy converse be sincere,
Thy conscience as the noon-day clear;

For God's all-seeing eye surveys
Thy secret thoughts thy works and ways.
Wake and lift up thyself, my heart,
And with the angels bear thy part;
Who all night long unwearied sing
High glory to the eternal King!

HYMN 9.

Before Jehovah's awful throne
Ye nations bow with sacred joy;
Know that the Lord is God alone;
He can create and He destroy.
His sov'reign pow'r without our aid,
Made us of clay and form'd us men ;
And when like wand'ring sheep, we stray'd,
He brought us to His fold again.

We'll crowd Thy gates with thankful songs,
High as the Heav'ns our voices raise.
And earth, with her ten thousand tongues,
Shall fill thy courts with sounding praise.
Wide as the world is Thy command,
Vast as eternity Thy love;

Firm as a rock Thy truth shall stand,
When rolling years shall cease to move.
HYMN 10.

Blow ye the trumpet blow
The gladly solemn sound;
Let all the nations know,
To earth's remotest bound;

The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransom'd sinners, home.

Jesus, our great High Priest,
Has full atonement made;
Ye weary spirits, rest;

Ye mournful souls be glad ;
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransom'd sinners home.

Extol the Lamb of God,

The all-atoning Lamb;

Redemption by his blood

Through all the world proclaim.
The year of Jubilee is come;
Return, ye ransom'd sinners, home.

Ye who have sold for nought

Your héritage above, Receive it back unbought,

The gift of Jesus' love;

The year of Jubilee is come;

Return, ye ransom'd sinners home.

HYMN 11.

Brightest and best of the sons of the morning!

Dawn on our darkness, and lend us

Thine aid!

Star of the east, the horizon adorning, Guide where our infant Redeemer is laid.

Cold on His cradle the dewdrops are shining,

[stall;

Low lies His head with the beasts of the Angels adore Him in slumber reclining, Maker, and Monarch, and Saviour of all.

Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion,
Odours of Edom, and off'rings divine,
Gems of the mountain, and pearls of the
[the mine?
Myrrh from the forest, and gold from
Vainly we offer each ample oblation,
Vainly with gifts would His favour

ocean,

secure;

Richer by far is the heart's adoration,
Dearer to God are the prayers of the poor.
HYMN 12.

Bright and joyful is the morn,
For to us a child is born;

From the highest realms of Heav'n
Unto us a Son is given.

On His shoulder He shall bear
Pow'r and majesty, and wear
On His vesture and His thigh
Names most awful names most high.
Wonderful in counsel He,
The incarnate Deity;
Sire of ages ne'er to cease,

King of Kings and Prince of Peace.

Come and worship at His feet,
Yield to Christ the homage meet,
From His manger to His throne,
Homage due to God alone.

HYMN 13.

Captain of our salvation, take
The souls we here present to Thee,

And fit for Thy great service make
These heirs of immortality ;
And let them in Thine image rise,
And then transplant to Paradise.
Unspotted from the world and pure,
Preserve them for Thy glorious cause,
Accustom'd daily to endure

The welcome burden of Thy cross:
Inured to toil and patient pain,

Till all Thy perfect mind they gain.
Train up Thy hardy Soldiers, Lord,
In all their Captain's steps to tread !
Or send them to proclaim Thy Word,
Thy Gospel through the world to spread,
Freely as they receive to give,

And preach The Death by which we live!
HYMN 14.

Children of the heavenly King,
As ye journey, sweetly sing:
Sing your Saviour's worthy praise,
Glorious in His works and ways.
We are trav'lling home to God,
In the way the fathers trod;
They are happy now, and we
Soon their happiness shall see.
Let us sing for safe and bless'd,
We with Jesus soon shall rest;
There our home is now prepar'd,
There our kingdom and reward.
Onward then we'll gladly press,
Through this earthly wilderness;
