Shew us some token of Thy love
Our feeble hope to raise;
And pour Thy blessing from above,
That we may render praise.

Within these walls let holy peace,
And love and concord dwell;
Here give the troubled conscience ease,
The wounded spirit heal.

O may the gospel's joyful sound,
Enforced by grace divine,
Awaken many sinners round,
And bend their wills to Thine.

HYMN 40.

Guide us, O Thou great Jehovah!
Pilgrims thro' this barren land;
We are weak, but Thou art mighty,
Hold us with Thy powerful hand;
Bread of Heaven, Bread of Heaven,
Feed us till we want no more.

Open Thou the living fountain,
Whence the healing waters flow;
Let the fiery cloudy pillar

Lead us all our journey through;
Strong Deliv'rer, strong Deliv'rer,

Be Thou still our strength and shield.

When we tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid our anxious fears subside;

Bear us thro' th' o'erwhelming torrent,

Land us safe on Canaan's side; Songs of praises, songs of praises, We will ever give to Thee.

HYMN 41.

Hail! holy, holy, holy Lord!
Whom One in Three we know,
By all Thy heav'nly host adored,
By all Thy Church below.

One undivided Trinity

With triumph we proclaim; The universe is full of Thee,

And speaks Thy glorious Name.

Thee, holy Father, we confess;
Thee, holy Son, adore;
Thee, Spirit of truth and holiness,
We worship evermore.

Three persons equally divine
We magnify and love;

And both the choirs ere long shall join,
To sing Thy praise above.

Hail! holy, holy, holy Lord!
(Our heav'nly song shall be,)
Supreme, essential One, adored
In co-eternal Three.

HYMN 42.

Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King;
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconcil'd.

Joyful all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies,
With th' angelic host proclaim,
Christ is born in Bethlehem !
Hark! the herald angels sing,
Glory to the new born King.
Christ, by highest heav'n ador'd,
Christ, the everlasting Lord;
Late in time behold him come,
Offspring of a virgin's womb.
Veil'd in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail! incarnate Deity;

Pleas'd as man with man appear.
Jesus our Immanuel here!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
Glory to the new born King!

Hail! the heav'n-born Prince of peace!
Hail! the Sun of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Ris'n with healing on His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born, that man no more may die;
Born, to raise the sons of earth;
Born, to give them second birth.
Hark! the herald angels sing,
Glory to the new born King;

HYMN 43.

Hark! the voice of love and mercy
Sounds aloud from Calvary;

See the rocks are rent asunder;

Darkness veils the mid-day sky; It is finish'd, it is finish'd, Hear the dying Saviour cry. O what joy to helpless sinners These triumphant words afford! Heav'nly blessings without measure, Flow to us through Christ the Lord: It is finish'd, it is finish'd,

Saints, his dying words record.
All the types and shadows finish'd
Of the ceremonial law;

Man's redemption now completed,
Death and hell no more shall awe;
It is finish'd, it is finish'd,

Saints, from hence your comfort draw.
Tune your harps anew, ye seraphs ;
Join the triumph to proclaim;
All on earth, and all in Heaven,
Join to praise the Saviour's Name.
Halelujah, Halelujah,

Halelujah, Praise the Lamb.

HYMN 44.

Hark the glad sound! the Saviour comes,
The Saviour promis'd long;
Let ev'ry heart prepare a throne,
And ev'ry voice a song.

He comes the pris'ners to release

In Satan's bondage held;

The gates of brass before him burst,
The iron fetters yield.

He comes, from thickest films of vice
To clear the mental ray,

And on the eye long closed in night
celestial day.

To

pour

He comes, the broken heart to bind,
The bleeding soul to cure ;
And, with the riches of His grace,
To bless the humble poor.

Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace,
Thy welcome shall proclaim;
And Heaven's eternal arches ring
With Thy beloved Name.

HYMN 45.

Hark! the song of Jubilee,
Loud as mighty thunders roar,
Or the fulness of the sea,

When it breakes upon the shore;
Halelujah! for the Lord

God Omnipotent shall reign;

Halelujah! Let the word

Echo round the earth and main.

Halelujah! Hark! the sound

From the centre to the skies,
Wakes above, beneath, around,
All creation's harmonies;
See Jehovah's banners furl'd,

Sheathed His sword, He speaks,'tis done,

And the kingdoms of this world

Are the kingdoms of His Son.
