Christ stilleth the tempest. 25 For he that hath, to him shall be given and he that hath not, from chim shall be taken even that which he hath. 26 And he said, So d is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; 27 And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. 28 For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; e first f the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. 29 But when the fruit is 2 brought forth, immediately he g putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come. 30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It h is like a grain of mustardseed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater i than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as k they were able to hear it. 34 But without a parable spake he not unto them and when thev were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples. 35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And I there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, m carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And in the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? o how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared p exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea a obey him? Christ healeth a woman. the ship, he that had been possess ed with the devil, prayed him that he might be with him. 19 Howbeit, Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and m tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. 20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. De. 14.8. 21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him and he was nigh unto the sea. 22 And, n behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet. 23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point o of death: 1 pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live. 24 And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him and thronged him. 25 And a certain woman, which had an issue pof blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment: 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. 30 And Jesus immediately knowing in himself that virtue s had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? 31 And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 32 And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. 33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told t him all the truth. 34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith u hath made thee whole; go v in peace, and be whole of thy plague. 35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, 'Thy daughter is dead: wwhy troublest thou the Master any further ? 36 As soon as Jesus heard the Christ is contemned. word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only a believe. 37 And he suffered no man to follow him, save y Peter, and James, and Johu the brother of James. 38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. 39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. z 40 And they laughed him to scorn. The traditions of men. CHAPTER VII. The Pharisees find fault with the disciples for eating with unwashen hands, etc. THEN came a together unto him MARK, VII. A. D. 32. Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but m into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all mea's? 20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For fromn within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, 6 covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. 24 And from o thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it but hep could not be hid. 25 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: 26 The woman was a 7 Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first be filled: forgit is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 23 And she answered, and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet ther dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, Fors this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30 And when she was come to her o Mat. 15.5, &c house, she found the devil gone t p ch.2.1. out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. |
