CHAPTER III.

1 Jehoram's reign. 4 Mesha rebelleth.

a Jehoram the son

began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the 1 image of b Baal that his father had made.

3 Nevertheless he cleaved unto the e sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

And Mesha the king of Moab was a sheep-master, and d rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, e and an hundred thousand rams with the wool. 5 But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

16 But he said, As s the LORD liveth, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it; but he refused.

17 And Naaman said, Shall there not then, I pray thee, be given to thy servant two mules' burden of earth? for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt-offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but u unto the LORD.
